"Measure for Measure"

The weariest and most loathed worldly life
That age, ache, penury, and imprisonment
Can lay on nature, is a paradise
To what we fear of death.

   Shakespeare
   Measure for Measure, 3. 1

"Duck!"

Duckie was born in early 2006 when I came across him in a supermarket and had my own moment of whimsy, recalling with hazy delight past Easter celebrations as a child. He is easily recognizable and people feel an instant connection with him and his plight, for Duckie indeed has a fraught life! He is confronted with his own sense of isolation in his little suburban home, as so many of us are.

We watch as he contemplates his circumstances always alone as he slowly comes to terms with his essential duck-ness, and inner chocolateness. He plays, he reflects, he dreams of what might be.

The final work in this series is Duck! finds Duckie finally breaking free, but you just know he’s going to come to a sticky end...
